Dr. Nathan Mayl

Dr. Nathan Mayl was born in New York in 1938. He is happily married and has two daughters.  A nationally recognized cosmetic plastic surgeon serving Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and surrounding communities, as well as patients from around the country and the world, Dr. Mayl began his medical education at Stanford University Medical School. He graduated with his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1965.  A veteran of the United States Navy, Dr. Mayl served two years (1967-1969) of independent duty and was responsible for surgery and orthopedics at the Bambridge Naval Training Center.

Dr. Nathan Mayl's list of publications and presentations is impressive, and include:

• "CO2 Laser Resurfacing over Flaps," featured in the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal (1997:17:285-292).
• "Synergy in Combining Fills, Lifts, and Lasers," featured at the Third Annual International Symposium on Aging Skin in San Francisco, 1999.
• "Taking the Myths out of CO2 Laser Resurfacing," a presentation at Baker Gordon Symposium, Miami Florida, 1996.
• "Autogenous Lip Enhancement," presented at the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons, December 2001.
• "Combi and Sculptra as an Adjunct in Face Lifting," presented at the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons, December 2006.
• "Sculptra, On-label and Off-label Finesse," presented at the Broward County Society of Plastic Surgeons, March 2007.

In addition to his scholastic accomplishments, Dr. Nathan Mayl takes continuing education classes, and also teaches them.  He is currently taking a course in the use of the Sharplan Silk Touch CO2 Laser to ensure that his patients receive the utmost in care, convenience, and technology at his Fort Lauderdale based practice.  Dr. Mayl has the longest experience with cosmetic injectables in all of Palm Beach County, and was the first cosmetic surgeon in the area to use BOTOX® Cosmetic, fat grafting, and liposuction.

A skilled cosmetic plastic surgeon, Dr. Mayl runs the Mayl Center for Cosmetic Surgery, serving Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, and beyond.  His private practice is dedicated to plastic and reconstructive surgery, with a special interest in facial beauty and body contouring.

Providing a Special Touch

We realize that patients may be uncomfortable leaving their vehicles in an unattended parking lot while they undergo a cosmetic makeover. That is why the staff at the Mayl Center is pleased to offer patrolled parking. Additionally, we realize that making the decision to undergo plastic surgery is a serious one. We want patients to know they are in the best hands possible. That is why we utilize both our in-house operating room, as well as the surgical facilities at Imperial Point Hospital.

Kimberly – Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner

"My extensive experience…allows us to provide the highest level of safety to all of our patients."

Kimberly is a registered nurse with an advanced degree, which allows her to assist our cosmetic plastic surgeon, Dr. Nathan Mayl, with the innovative techniques that are utilized in our practice.  She is certified in the administration and preparation of all contemporary cosmetic injectables including: BOTOX® Cosmetic, Restylane®, Juvéderm™, Sculptra®, Radiesse®, and Artefill®, and also supervises the laser and skin rejuvenation aspect of the practice.  To comply with Florida state requirements, Kimberly is certified in the use of the Fraxel® Laser, Intense Pulse Light therapy (IPL™), microdermabrasion, Levulan® blue light therapy, and other modalities.  Her extensive experience in internal medicine allows her to provide the highest level of safety to all the patients at the Mayl Center for Cosmetic Surgery.

Rhona – Registered Nurse

"I provide patient care from the moment our new patient walks in the door, during the surgical procedure, and throughout the post-operative recovery phase."

Rhona has practiced nursing for 35 years, and is board certified in operating room nursing, and is also a certified first surgical assistant.  While she currently practices plastic surgery exclusively, she has a wide scope of experience in teaching, emergency medicine, and surgical nursing.  At the Mayl Center for Cosmetic Surgery, Rhona is responsible for the ongoing certification of the office under the American Association of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities.  She assists Dr. Nathan Mayl in our in-house operating suite and at Imperial Point Hospital.  Providing patient care from the moment a new patient walks in the door, during the surgical procedure, and throughout the post-operative recovery phase is Rhona's specialty.  Since our Fort Lauderdale office utilizes new technology and techniques, it remains an exciting place for Rhona to practice and enhance her nursing skills.

Luz – Medical Esthetician

"I am the special resource for makeovers both with and without surgery and delight in the challenge of making people look better."

As a graduate of the Florida College of Natural Health, Luz was trained in the art of beauty. She has been trained to assist our cosmetic plastic surgeon, Dr. Nathan Mayl in the pre- and post-operative care of patients.  At the Mayl Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we believe that preparation and post-operative care are among the most important elements of achieving great outcomes. At our center serving Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and beyond, Luz administers microdermabrasion, chemical peels, facials, and the newest exfoliative treatments, including dermaplaning and dermafiling.  Providing both pre- and post-operative makeovers, Luz delights in bringing out inner beauty by enhancing outer beauty.  She is also a skin care specialist, and educates patients on how to maintain and protect their cosmetic surgery investment with the use of specialized long-term skin care products.

Sue – Intake Coordinator

"I am the office computer expert…with my help the Mayl Center has been able…to give the patients the Ritz Carlton treatment from their first appointment on."

With 29 years in the medical profession, Sue is a front office specialist.  She will be the first to welcome you to the Mayl Center for Cosmetic Surgery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Answering incoming calls and scheduling appointments for Dr. Nathan Mayl and Kimberly, our advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP), are only two of the many responsibilities she has. As the office computer expert, she makes sure that important software receives upgrades, and equipment is maintained to ensure patients receive the utmost in treatment and care throughout the duration of each of their visits. Sue also handles all patient and insurance billing to ensure payments are made in a timely fashion.

Karen – Patient Coordinator

"I love helping patients and I love cosmetic surgery, so this is a perfect match for me."

During her 30 years of experience in plastic surgery, Karen has worked every in-office position, from the front desk, to the operating room.  As such, she has the insight to be able to complete the important task of managing every element of our patients' preparation for both surgical and skin care treatments.  In the role of patient coordinator at our Fort Lauderdale center, Karen spends time educating each patient and their family, making sure they are comfortable with every aspect of their plastic surgery procedure.  Dr. Nathan Mayl even utilizes Karen's experience and communication skills in the operating room and surgical suite to ensure that patients are being well taken care of.

Lisa – Outtake Coordinator/Medical Assistant

"My goal…is to make every patient's experience here as comfortable as possible."

Lisa has 15 years of experience as a medical assistant in dermatology and plastic surgery. She is involved in all aspects of both pre- and post- operative care. Although she is seated at the front of the office, where she can make appointments and ensure your visit is pleasurable, Lisa is equally likely to be removing sutures, helping to instruct patients in aftercare procedures, or calling to check that patients are feeling well after surgery.  She also assists our cosmetic plastic surgeon, Dr. Nathan Mayl, at Imperial Point Hospital with the discharge of patients.  Other duties include assisting Kimberly with laser, IPL™, and cosmetic injectable setups.  Lisa's goal at the Mayl Center for Cosmetic Surgery is to make every patient's experience as comfortable as possible.
